The brainchild of Heinz Julen, highly acclaimed Swiss designer and architect, is the cutting-edge Backstage Loft, a fabulous contemporary chalet. The property sleeps ten people in five en-suite bedrooms.
Boasting incredible views of the iconic Matterhorn, the chalet is nestled on the edge of the river, ideally located a short stroll from the main Glacier Station ski lift and the village center.
One of the most stunning features of the Backstage Loft is its large, airy, and bright open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area. This sophisticated entertaining space features an open wood fire and floor-to-ceiling windows that enhance the unique architectural style and charm. The dining table can be fastened easily to the ceiling, leaving a great floor space for pre-dinner drinks and canapés or dancing.
The impressive hot tub is located to the side of the main living room, and is encased in glass, affording you spectacular views. If this isn't enough, with the touch of a button the glass wall swings open and the indoor hot tub is magically transformed into an outdoor one.
There is one double bedroom with en-suite shower located on this floor, accessible from the main hallway. This bedroom opens onto a wraparound balcony and has a television and safe, as do all of the bedrooms. Stairs lead to two additional stylish bedrooms with en-suite showers located on the top floor of the chalet.
Downstairs from the living space is another bedroom with en-suite shower, its own balcony, and separate entrance to the lower street level. A guest toilet as well as a small hammam/steam room and sauna are also located on this floor.
Stairs lead up to the fifth master bedroom with separate shower, located in the adjoining glass-encased converted 700-year-old chalet, in which historic details such as its original wooden beams have been tastefully preserved. This bedroom has direct access to the terrace and hot tub area outside of the living room.
After an exhilarating day on the slopes, guests can relax and take in the latest movie in the chalet's dedicated TV room located on the lower floor of the chalet. This area also has a kitchenette and separate shower room and access through to the gym equipped with a treadmill, as well as cross training and weights installations with views over the river. The ski room has an ample number of innovative heated drying cupboards.
The Backstage Loft is unmatched in its masterful blending of the historic wooden features of the ancient chalet with the contemporary panache of the main chalet. Architect and designer Heinz Julen's distinctive style and keen eye for detail is reflected throughout the Loft in its architectural design as well as its custom-made furnishings and fixtures. The Loft is a jewel among the luxury chalet rentals that Zermatt has to offer, and the Bramble Ski experienced team will ensure that your stay is as unforgettable as the chalet itself.Recently built, this huge and entirely unique private residence oozes style and opulence and despite its size, has a homely, comfortable atmosphere. The main part of the "Loft" is of totally modern construction whilst the integrated extension is based on a converted Valaisan "mazôt" or barn.
